Frequency Impressions in Seattle by Himiko

Below is a lovely poem/text by a  Japanese dancer and calligrapher, Himiko, who attended the Frequency in Motion performance in Seattle. I will post my own report soon.

A world where sound, image, and dance melt into one.
Such strange rhythms, such waves.
Now and then, flowing with the music,
comes the voice of narration.
At times the narration
pulls me toward
meaning—
but hearing Japanese from abroad,
it reaches my ears
as vibration,
as sound,
as one wave among waves.
And yet, once again,
I was made to feel
the spiritual resonance of Japanese,
the elevation of its sonic frequencies.
The three dancers, too, were magnificent,
creating such various
reverberations of waves—
the performance was breathtaking.
Sound and image and dance:
none leaping ahead of the others,
but resonating together beautifully.
A space so comfortable to be in.
Even now,
the afterglow remains.
It was a wonderful work.

UKIGUMO

Very excited about the Edge of Presence performance with Hiroko Komiya early next week in Warsaw, Poland, but before the event, I am happy to share our latest collaboration: UKIGUMO

This version is slightly different from the version that appeared on Framework Radio a few weeks ago.

Along the Shore

Very excited to share this new collaboration with Daniel Barbiero on the wonderful Plus Timbre label. Enjoy !

Along the shore is a collaboration between Chris H. Lynn and Daniel Barbiero. The composition was recorded during late December 2022 and February 2023.

Chris H. Lynn: Duration field recording of tidal rhythms (high) moving and shifting patches of ice along the shores of the Chesapeake Bay at dusk in late December.

Daniel Barbiero: Double bass recording of three pages of “Soundings,” a graphically notated composition for solo bass clef instrument.
