Una Lee has had a very busy summer! Besides being part of Lynlee with me, she has managed to put out two superb new releases. Both discs offer many aural rewards after a few listens. Mindwandering is released on the withering-trees label and features Hyo Jung Kim on Violin and voice. Here is what they say :

“The term ‘ Stream of consciousness’ or ‘Train of thoughts’ would be the best way to describe the idea, by which this piece ‘Mindwandering’ was made. It’s a rather longer sound collage of over 30 different found sound tracks and some field recordings of improvised music, which were used and manipulated to accompany the infinitely wandering mind.”

There are some wonderful passages here that masterfully blend sound art, improv, and field recordings into one organic whole. The link is here to listen and download. Check out some other works as well by the label, which looks to be quite promising.

Una’s other release is called Static Flux , here raindrops are recorded in different positions and situations to create a trancelike meditation on the percussive sounds of rain.
