I have been thinking about the Slow Viewing room experience since I returned from Busan.
There was rain
outside the theater
count the frames
black out
on the brink of nothingness
the unknown
sonic transition
dawn
in the grey
the setting, the architecture, the space, the environment.
different worlds and levels of engagement.
current or present, past or lost and distant, not so distant futures.
landscapes of recovery
the pulse of the sun flickering on the screen
circles of light
falling leaves
rings of silence
boats drifting and slipping away
exterior sounds making their way into the space
performer and spectator
absorbing travel
art creating in a world of commerce
Industry embedded within the structure
stillness and reading
methods of repair
contemplation
past visions
collaborative effort with the viewer
the performer
elements of sound
the image
the space as performer
leaving and returning
mountain path
eyes looking out
Deep thanks to Jun Sangbae for his artistic vision and ideas and Hwang Miae for her stunning performance..

I am really thrilled Japanese Sound Artist Masatomo Fukushima (AWAYA) put together a show for Beyond Encounters on Camp Radio . Below is his tracklist. The show will air: 12pm EST 18h00 CET and JST 2:00 AM on 2/17 !
Here are his notes on the program:
Sound Haiku & OTOASOBI âSound Haiku âYin and Yangâ: A collaborative project by sound-visual artist AWAYA (Kumano, Japan) and musician, sound artist, and poet Florencia Ruiz Ferretti.(Rosario, Argentina). They exchanged the soundscapes of their respective lands, Kumano and Rosario, and layered readings of poetry (haiku) inspired by each sound in their native languages.
âOTOASOBI: Recordings from OTOASOBI, a monthly event held at Tanami Theater (Kushimoto, Japan).âOTOASOBIâ means âsound play.â This is a one-time, miraculous music born naturally as people with different musical backgroundsâvarying genres and preferred instrumentsâgather, temporarily set aside their musical identities, and play with sound like children.
This is a fantastic show . Tune in Monday or Tuesday.
